It’s Hot, It’s Cold, It’s COLOR Exhibition
● August 7 - 27, 2015
● Opening Reception: Friday, August 7, 2015, 6pm-8pm
● For artists, color can be a seductive romance. It can also be a battlefield. Color can pull at our heart strings or relieve stress. For many of us it is how we interpret our world; what clothes we like to wear and what food looks good to eat. Colors can complement or contrast one another. Some colors are attractive and some are repulsive. In this exhibition we will find how representational and abstract work uses intensity, saturation, vibrancy, and hue to convey a message and emotion about a subject.
While I tend to work alla prima in the impressionist to realist spectrum, I love to paint abstracts, too. I love the direct emotional transfer that occurs when I paint them. Color, value, shape, line, and texture develop before me on the blank canvas in a sort of stream of consciousness. Yes, there are many principles of abstract painting that guide you. But, I try not to allow the "rules" to interfere with the process of creation.
Here are my paintings that will be in the show:
"Homeless", 20" x 24", canvas, mixed media
"Blood Moon", 36" x 36", canvas, mixed media
